today. here's a live look from our sky cameras. san jose is on your left, palo alto on the right. we're starting to see a couple of showers. it's weather that could have an impact on plans for folks celebrating easter sunday. let's check in with meteorologist rob meida who's tracking spring showers. what's going on, rob? >> the picture that you showed, the contrast between palo alto and here is pretty dramatic. look at the view off to san francisco now. let's show you the radar. the south bay and the rain on the santa cruz mountains is spilling into the valley. over towards sunnyvale. now sfo as that shot showed us, the rain is coming up from the south and ongoing showers in the north bay. what we have now is increasing moisture, increasing lift to the atmosphere as this area of low pressure which has been sitting off shore. by the time we head into easter sunday morning i think it's going to be sitting on top of the bay area. now the rain has arrived. rain off and on at times. not nonstop rain but you may hear a rumble or two of thunder especially in the north bay tonight. plan on keep

investigating a crash in san jose that left a man trapped in his suv. police say a man in his early 20s was on the alma street onramp approaching southbound highway 87 around 3:00 this morning. the suv hit the center divide an flipped onto its side. firefighters had to get the man out through the windy shield. the driver was taken to the hospital. the highway patrol is looking to see if alcohol or distracted driving was a factor in the crash. >>> we're learning that a tentative deal is in place that could pave the way for a sweeping immigration reform bill in the u.s. senate. a source says representatives from labor and business agreed on a framework for a new visa program for low-skilled workers. the workers could fill jobs for construction, hotels, nursing homes. the visa program would allow 200,000 workers per year in. workers would get the same wages as u.s. citizens and they would be able to change jobs and they could seek permanent residency. the bill could be introduced the week after next. >>> dozens of police officers descended on an em cerrito elementary school this morning but -- el

the end of u.s. involvement in vietnam. and a ceremony in san jose paid tribute to dozens of servicemen from the south bay city who died in the conflict. today's gathering included the unveiling and dedication of a granite monument titled sons of san jose. mayor reed a vietnam vet himself says the monument is long overdue. >> now that i look back on it, i realize the tragic losses that these men suffered by losing their lives. the tragic loss their families suffered and it's good we can honor them with this memorial. >> standing 6'0" tall and 13 feet long the monument honors the 142 men from san jose who served and died in the war. >>> and in san mateo a chinese tradition honors their dead ancestors by sweeping their graves. it's called the festival. it includes lion dancers and traditional blessings by buddhists and monks to help scare away bad spirits. an estimated 6,000 people were expected to turn out for the weekend festival. >>> this just freaks me out a little knowing this could kill me. >> hundreds in an agonizing wait to see if their health will forever change after

the guys from the area give the ultimate sacrifice in vietnam. >> it's called the sons of san jose. a new memorial that drew a crowd today. >>> spring showers could affect your plans for easter sunday. >> good evening. i'm terry dwyer. >>> police are looking for a person who shot and killed a 19-year-old student. it happened on 24th and bryant street. kimberly terry is there with more for us tonight. kimberly? >> reporter: diane, that young man was shot right in front of his home and his family tells us tonight that it was his father who heard the gunfire and went downstairs to find his son. he was taken to the hospital where he later died. his family has identified him as jacob valdavieto. he was walking to his parents' house last night about 3:00 a.m. overnight that is when a car pulled up, a latino man got out, asked if he was part of a gang and shot him. the suspect is still on the loose. according to his family and police, he has no gang ties. his loved ones say he was a good guy and has a lot of family and is loved by everyone. he was dedicated to sports, particularly football.

question is why a man would drive a car into a crowded walmart store in san jose and attack customers. it happened on story road half a mile from where highway 101 meets 280. several were injured, the drive ev's been arrested. kimberly terry is live with the latest on this bizarre story. >> reporter: that crash happened at about 11:15 this morning. as you can imagine, both the parking lot and this store were packed with customers. police say the suspect was driving through the parking lot, hitting cars, before he went through the sliding glass doors right into the store. police say the car ended up on a beer display 30 feet inside walmart. once that car stopped the driver got out and picked up a blunt object from inside the store and began hitting customers with it. seriously injuring at least one person. witnesses say the crash was so loud, some people initially thought it was gunfire. >> i heard this big crash. what was that? is so i'm looking around. all of a sudden i see all these people screaming and running. like, tear error on their face. i had no idea what's going on. i'm aski

consul ant i was with city of san jose antigraffiti for 10 year. we ended up with over 3,400 graffiti volunteers. that's a big number. and the number of -- first of all, we did a good job training them and we made sure that if there were -- that they knew if there was anything out there, somebody watching them or a gang area, a gang tag, we didn't want them dealing with that. they he should call it into our staff and we'll take care of it for them. we had absolutely zero in 10 years issues with liability, none, not one. not only that's correct but we put every volunteer on our city's workers' compensation program, every single one. so, if there was a problem they were covered under the city's workers' comp program. and we had zero claims. and then we also inherited an antilitter program. we had over 14,000 antilitter volunteers. they weren't using the chemicals or anything like that, but we had same thing, no problems, no complaints, no liability issues at all. and we only gave solvent to adults. we didn't give solvents to any minors. and we made sure that the solvents that we gave we
